Send the Luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day

In the 1700's and the 1800's, mass immigrations from Ireland resulted in New York and Boston becoming major population centers for the Irish citizenry. The entire northeastern corridor can still claim millions of residents of Irish descent - so St. Patrick's Day is a pretty big deal! From parades to dinners of corned beef and cabbage, this once-religious feast day has turned into a cultural phenomenon, one which every nationality celebrates. In fact, it is commonly noted that on St. Patrick's Day, everyone is Irish! At City Line Florist, we happen to agree. But we think that not only should you wear green, but your home should be adorned for the festivities as well!  Read More about Send the Luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day »

International Women’s Day, Global & Local

International Women's Day is an annual celebration of the spirit and accomplishments of women around the globe. The event has been held for over 100 years, meaning that it has seen some pretty amazing history unfolding, including the women's right to vote in 1920. There have been challenges and successes, and there is still much work to be done. As a worldwide initiative, Women's Day recognizes that the treatment of women can be vastly different from country to country, and therefore organizers encourage women and men everywhere to come together in solidarity for the rights and equality of all women.  Read More about International Women’s Day, Global & Local »

Celebrating birthdays with flowers is a beloved tradition - and for good reason. Everyone loves receiving flowers, and they are even scientifically proven to make people happy. This year, when you are choosing the perfect floral designs for your loved ones, consider making them even more meaningful. Bouquets inspired by monthly birthstones are a beautiful and colorful way to celebrate their special day. Birthstones have been a part of our culture since ancient times. Many believe that they originated with the Hebrew priests, who in the Old Testament wore breastplates with twelve precious stones. The ancient Greeks began to associate each stone with a birth month, and also believed that each stone had magical powers.  Read More about Celebrating Birthdays with Birthstones »
